Hi, I'm Kate:
I’m a freelance content writer for Website Builder Expert, and I’ve written about everything from algorithms to apps, design tips to digital marketing techniques.
My knowledge in this space comes through being a marketer by trade, with 10 years’ experience spanning B2B and B2C brands, both agency and client side.
Copywriting is a passion of mine, and I love the challenge of taking a complex topic and distilling it down into an easy-to-understand article (that’s hopefully entertaining to read, too!).
Outside of the writing world, you might find me attempting an elaborate recipe from one of my 50+ cookbooks, listening to a darkly-twisted murder podcast, or trying in vain to improve my score on chess.com.
You can find me on LinkedIn here!
More About Kate:
Kate currently works at the Guardian in the media organization’s brand marketing team. Her experience here includes creating marketing campaigns to drive awareness, affinity, and engagement. This involves working with creative agencies to develop brand ideas and messaging, and managing many different marketing channels, including paid media and organic channels.
Some of her main achievements while working for the Guardian include: leading on the marketing campaign to launch the new Saturday magazine, developing the organization’s partnerships strategy, and working on the 2019 rebrand of the newspaper.
Prior to the Guardian, she worked in the B2B space at an energy supplier. This involved a very different target audience, where the majority of communications were to SME business owners and farmers! In this role, she finessed her copywriting expertise, including creating and writing the company’s first newsletter.
Her interest in marketing theory and strategy stems from her Master’s degree in Marketing, which she was awarded in 2013 with a distinction from the University of Exeter. She is particularly interested in how marketing blends elements of art and science, with the perfect campaign taking analytics and human insights, and using these to make a real emotional connection with the audience.
She has since been back as a visiting lecturer to the University of Exeter, going from being in the audience to passing on knowledge to the current cohort of students.
